Throughout this section, you will “eyeball” a line of best fit and use it to make predictions, interpret the slope and y-intercept in a statistical situation, and describe the form, direction, strength, and outliers of an association. You will also calculate residuals and create upper and lower bounds for predictions that you make, and use your calculator to create the unique line of best fit called the least squares regression line. You will start this section by investigating how much of a football field you can see through a hole in the wall. Later you will make predictions in an anthropologist’s investigation of forearm length.
